Malibu Beach Elopements
Preferred Malibu beaches
Our preferred location is Point Dume, but if you have a favorite beach, we’re happy to arrange the permitting. Pacific storms and El Niño conditions can raise the surf and sea level along the coast, so we follow the local weather reports closely. If Point Dume or El Matador is closed or unsafe, we move to Zuma, a wide, quiet beach that’s easy to reach and less affected by high water.
Time of Day
Sunrise and sunset are recommended, though Most couples choose sunset, simply because it’s the hour most people prefer, but sunrise has its own quiet appeal.
Season
Every season is a good one in Malibu. Even under a cloudy sky, the photographs are lovely.
Weather
Beaches can be windy. It’s rarely a problem, but if you’re having your hair styled, it’s worth mentioning to your stylist. If it rains, we bring clear umbrellas or wait out a passing shower. Upside- you might marry under a rainbow.
Duration
We recommend one hour for a couple on their own, and two hours if you have more than four guests. That leaves time for the ceremony, portraits, family and group photos, and details, without rushing.
What’s included
Your officiant, flowers delivered to the beach, and photography in our light and airy fine art style, with classic portraits, family and group photos, details, and candid moments. Beach permits are included when required.

Getting there
We chose our beaches for easy access, because long walks and steep inclines aren’t possible for every couple or guest. Point Dume and Zuma are a short, direct walk from parking; El Matador has a staircase down to the sand. Footwear is up to you, but you will be walking on sand part of the time. Feel free to go barefoot, and feel free to change into something else for photos.
On the day, we meet in the parking lot. Everyone receives the location in advance and your coordinator, Andrea, will connect you and your team on a text or WhatsApp group thread. If you’re running late or can’t find us, you can reach us easily.
Guest Count
We can welcome up to 20 guests, though around 10 is a more comfortable size. We don’t provide a day-of coordinator, so for larger groups we ask that you choose one guest to help gather everyone at the ceremony spot and help manage group portraits if necessary.
